From The Editor

Dear Reader,

A play on the idea of an incorporation - a brainchild, a business, a brand as well as my operation of ink (figuratively of course), as I am most passionate about writing, this blog serves to provide my opinion and insights on current events in the media.

"Writers always say, 'I always knew I wanted to be a writer; when I was a three-month-old foetus a pen formed in my hand and I began to scratch my first story on the inside of my mother's womb.' I started later, in my early twenties."
- Harlan Coben

That being said, my name is Naledi Sibisi, who in her early twenties, has grown comfortable with the idea that the pen is indeed her portion. For an unspecified period of time, I wish to take you on a journey as I welcome you to The Ink-Operation of N.

Guns Don't Kill People

So, who remembers the Red Cross telethon about Hurricane Katrina when host Mike Myers and rapper Kanye West were on air, at which point, West went completely off script saying "George Bush doesn't care about black people"?

Well ...

Local tweeters were fueled yesterday as it was reported, Henke Pistorius, father of paralympian track-star Oscar Pistorius, who is accused of the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, claimed that the only reason his family own weapons in the first place is because they cannot trust the police force to protect them as the ANC government fails to protect white South Africans.

The Independent states that, the Pistorius family has distanced themselves from these comments and the family's media team was completely unaware of the statements made by Henke Pistorius in his interview with The Telegraph Newspaper of the U.K.

The ANC fired back at his statement by claiming that his remarks were racially based and he has turned the tragedy that was the shooting of his son's girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp into a political issue. Henke Pistorius was adamant that his family owns hunting guns as well as a number of guns specifically allocated to their protection because he feels as though ANC government performs poorly in cases involving crime and white citizens.

World News on the globally recognized news network NBC states that Jackson Mthembu, spokesman for the ANC told The Associated Press that it "rejects with contempt" any implications that the ruling party does not afford attention to the protection of white South African citizens.

You know what (whoever they are) say though, guns don't kill people, people kill people.
